Why It Should Be Called the Trump Virus
Trump calling SARS COVID-2 the China virus lacks accuracy
The Chinese notified our CDC January 1st with alacrity
Within 2 weeks they unraveled its gene
And shared with the world its structural scheme
Allowing precise diagnostic tools which the CDC oversaw
Putting out a test that was totally flawed
But researchers around the world fought back
And are finding antigenic determinants for potential attack
And the production of potent humanized
Therapeutic monoclonal antibodies
Directed at key viral structural proteins
Giving us a handle on fighting the disease.
The Chinese also shut down a city of 11 million
And contacted and traced a gazillion
People ultimately stopping the virus in its tracks
Although it is trying to make a come back.
So the Chinese did everything to slow the spread
With frankly minimal numbers dead
So what can we say of Trumps nonresponse?
He denied, fantasized, said it would go away
Just suddenly disappear poof go away
Did everything public opinion to sway
He ignored, called it a democratic hoax
Masks he thought were beneath his dignity and hokey
Kushner had a comprehensive testing plan
Which Trump abandoned because he said
It was only people in blue states ending up dead
(Which he modified somewhat as it hit states red).
He had unmitigated rallies with abandon
Poor Herman Cain at Tulsa tweeted he was having fun
But in 11 days the grim reaper was on a run
And he died on a ventilator in a month.
And red states followed the example of him and Pence
And forswore masks and just common sense
Despite the curve having never been bent
Reopen the churches by Easter he said and the economy forthwith
More testing, more cases so lets not do it
Ahead full steam … get the stock market up
Open up schools kids don’t get it
And they don’t matter– forget it
Most of the developed world had gotten the virus under control
Their curves are bent, economies starting to boil
But looking at facts Trump has achieved the world’s worst
The curves never came down the economy has burst
And United States passports don’t get you much
Since Americans are banned from international travel
American cases pile up in surcease
As the use of refrigerated morgue trucks increase
And Trump confabulates with abandon
Saying he’s done a great job
But his entire response has been a catastrophe
And the proof is there for the whole world to see
No one in the world has done more than Trump to facilitate Covid Virus spread
This is reflected in the worst mortality in the world with 183,000 dead
And 6.1 million infected today
As he has permitted the virus to keep churning away.
So it is only appropriate we should give Trump the dubious honor
Of naming the virus after him it’s a fitting thing
I hear the virus applauding
For the Trump Virus has such a mellifluous ring.
