A Life Ruined by 20 Minutes of Action
How in the world can
We consider Judge Aaron Persky a compassionate man?
Brock Turner was caught in flagrante by two young Swedes
Raping an unconscious woman behind a dumpster in the weeds.
And convicted of felony sexual assault on three counts
But an exceptional case the judge finds
Brock’s a good boy and Stanford elite
Being an outstanding athlete
A sentence of more than six months the judge opined
Would “have a severe impact on him and his mind
Yes, two to 14 years would have been a blow
Which is what most rapists undergo
The judge it seems has no concern
For the victim whose agony we learn
Has consigned her to a life of fear and isolation
And continuing severe depression.
Thus clearly the victim’s life has been shattered
And this –not the perpetrator- is what really matters
But the story is not unique
And if it is truth we seek
Academic institutions make rape go away
As Amy Ziering’s video The Hunting Ground portrays
Particularly with athletes there is great duplicity
In sheltering the school from adverse publicity
So Judge Persky should be recalled
I have signed the petition and will send
Some money to help achieve this end.
For Judge Persky is to the victim no friend.

See Democracy Now this date. Case of Mara. Raped by 20-year-old from a wealthy Niagara Falls, NY family. Had been convicted of sexual assault, but the prosecutor
Got the victims to agree to probation…which the perp violated. Parole was notified but did nothing. Pt. then admitted to 4 sexual assaults. The judge inexplicably sentenced him to probation. Buffalo News said it: “Judge Murphy is not the first judge to value the prospects of promising young rapists over the suffering of their victims.
