Antonym for the Clinton Era

Antonym for the Clinton Era

Ivo Daalder on Madeline Albright:

“When it comes to the need to protect people from genocidal war, Albright was the conscience of the Clinton Administration.”

Leslie Stahl interviewing Madeline Albright:

Stahl:  “We have heard that half a million {Iraqi} children have died.  I mean, that is more children than died in Hiroshima” asked Stahl, “and, you know, is the price worth it?

Albright: “I think that is a very hard choice”, Albright answered, “but the price, we think, the price is worth it.”

Vijay Prashad, historian and executive director of Tricontinental Institute for Social Research:  “I would like Madeline Albright to be remembered by her callous comment about the mass murder of Iraqi children by the sanctimonious United States regime.

Remember:  The Iraqi sanctions were due to end as WMD had not been detected.  Had they been allowed to end Hussein would have had total control of his oil reserves and the ability contract for their development by non-US oil countries.  Probably the major importance of Iraqi oil was keeping it off the world market to allow Saudi Arabia to control oil prices.  Iraq had become a swing player which was inimical to the Saudi’s and the Americans.
