Ian Masters- Chalmers Johnson No Win Wars
Ian Masters- Chalmers Johnson Background Briefing KPFK 05 KZ3624 26:18 min
Chalmers Johnson: …we don’t manufacture much anymore except weapons. Our defense budget, if you can call it that—it’s a euphemism- is larger than all the defense budgets combined. It doesn’t provide defense for us. I mean the department of defense has now had to added to the department of Homeland Security in order to actually defend the United States, and it’s not a cheap organization either.
Ian Masters: But the irony is that having out-sent the rest of the world combined in terms of our military budget we have less deterrence, we have less ability to deter our enemies and we have lost one war in Iraq, we are in the processes of losing another one in Afghanistan, and if we are foolish enough to go int a third ward against Iran we will really lose big time.
Chalmers Johnson: I agree with you but again one must simply stress the Military Industrial Complex doesn’t actually care whether we win wars…What they are about is that we continue to spend….
Howard Charman: Jodie, it is about the Military Industrial Complex strategically planted in 47n states. This is socialism for the rich: just think what those resources and brainpower could do if diverted towards bettering humanity… There is something about warfare. The German Reichstag at the end of the 19th century voted millions for battleships, while voting down money for milk for school children. A testosterone death wish.
