Trump and the truth are oxymoronic
As the Coronavirus epidemic unfolds supersonic
The world results are there for all to see
And Trump’s response a travesty
China has 80,000 persons ill
With a 3.3% rate of kill
At least 58 countries are reporting a case
With the administration’s response proceeding at a dawdling pace
Obama’s Pandemic Task Force weathered epidemics four
Ebola, SARS, MERS and influenza more
Comprehensively run with key agency involvement you know
But since it was Obama’s it just had to go
Trump announced this was because there was nothing going on
And the disbanded team was rapidly gone
He stated we can always hire doctors when there is a need
Surely an illogical and short-sighted way to proceed
Even George W saw the pandemic threat
His pandemic team identified 1000 agents not discovered yet.
Clearly Trump by gutting pandemic surveillance
Disbanded an effort that is more than salient.
And his initial pronouncements were easily refuted lies
Fifteen cases – the true number 66
In the face of facts fly
Leaving citizens in a great fix.
We are doing a great job – the situation is under control
A vaccine is coming along soon and assertion which Toni Fauci spoils
And maybe by April it will miraculously disappear
Making his profound ignorance and incompetence abundantly clear

To March and Travis Air Force Bases to meet evacuees of the Diamond Princess
And then after potential exposure to the evolving scourge
Cavalierly released them into population at large
This represents a blunder of gigantic proportions it can be said
For this is an obvious way to potentiate the spread
And to coordinate the attack he comes up with Mike Pence
A tribute to staggering incompetence
Crucial is COVID-19 viral testing
For case identification and infection arresting
But due to CDC incompetence and inaction
US doctors can test but a fraction.
This despite being aware
And having ample time to prepare

Was potentiating in Indiana the spread of HIV
This, by nixing a program of needle exchange
His response was quite strange
But of course, blaming Democrats and the fake news press for the stock market tank

Repeated lies ad nauseum by Fox News until now has worked
And been eminently successful for this consummate jerk
And from the oval office
His speech catastrophic
Delivered in a monotone voice
Gave Wall Street no choice
And resulted in a thunderous crash
The worst since 1987 – a real bash
And forces him with alacrity
To declare a national emergency.
Trump initially minimizes the danger
And to truth is a total stranger
Just another hoax democratic
He states most emphatic.
When a reporter questions his Pandemic Task force stance
He lies and professes ignorance
And when questioned as to the lack of testing capacity
He cravenly denies any responsibility
There has been no guidance from the administration I say
California, Washington and New York governors have led the way
And Fauci’s advise to cancel a sports game was heeded
Has led to the wholesale canceling of events so crucially needed.
Trump all his life has been a master of manipulation
And egregious tergiversation
This epidemic however is proceeding inexorably
Each case generating two more logarithmically
This pandemic has exposed his incompetence and wishful thinking
And revealed the Cool Aid he has been drinking
Unfortunately, many may end up dead
But all can see this will be on his head.
And his failure to follow social distancing
With energetic hand shaking a Mar-A-Lago
In the presence Corona virus positive henchmen of Bolsonaro
May present the president with a sober reckoning
But through it all it has become abundantly clear
That Trump had no concern for protecting the people and allaying their fear
Just saving the market and hence is own skin
His empathy for others is vanishingly thin.
In fact, when the FED cuts rates to zero
The chairman is his hero
This is a moment truly sappy
For it is the only thing that makes him happy.
And his leadership is sorely lacking
Telling the governors to go packing
Go order respirators yourselves says the jerk
We in the government are not clerks.
Through this crisis he demonstrably lacks empathy
Which for Ivanka he peculiarly shows exclusively…
And how did he say he would rate her?
Well if she weren’t his daughter—he said he would date her!
